A "V"-shaped cusp in 171A slowly lifts off. It lies above and in between of two dark domes in 171A which are in turn conined between two large prominences.

This flare may be an example in which actions occurring in large-scale or surrounding magnetic field structure triggered the impulsive phase. It appears that changes in the region near the northern leg of the main flare loops (as projected in 2d) weakened the overlying field. There is an indication of the so-called plasmoid ejection. A type II burst is reported. The associated CME shows signatures of a shock wave.

This is a diffuse event. Although 171 A images show changes only around the western leg, both 193 A and 211 A images also show an outgoing arc that appears to form a loop system. However, it is not clear that this part represents expanding loops or a wave. The front is diffuse, but it can be due to a low S/N.

These loops attract one's eye. Although 6-8 MK plasma seems to exist inside as seen at 94 A (red), it is not seen at the outer edge nor 195 A secondary signals (for 15-20 MK) in blue. Therefore flare-like reconnection may not be present in loop expansions like this.

This movie shows how the twisted core field gets ejected, perhaps in reference to numerical simulations. The CME front appears to form only when the ejection reaches a certain height.

The jet is best seen in 211 A and 193 A. In 171 A, only the lower part is seen. In 304 A, the chromospheric material goes up then falls down.

The CME loop is first seen already above AR loops. It stays in the AIA FOV until 13:55 or so. Even tough we see flare ribbons at 304 A, it is hard ot locate the flare in GOES light curves (with a ~B6 background). A disk region in a coronal hole near central merodian brightened around the time of the eruption, but whether they are related is TBD.

The eruption is more readily seen over the limb than on disk (i.e., not like a typical "EIT wave"), temporally overlapping with a nice type II burst. From the GOES X-ray light curves alone, it is hard to imagine eruptive behaviors like this. At 171 A, there is an indication of the quasi-peoridic fast propagating waves as reported by Wei Liu, Alan Title et al. for the 1-Aug-2010 event. A narrow filament eruption or surge is involved. The corresponding CME is limited in angular extent as expected from this kind of eruption.
