Shooting through the solar corona, Comet Lovejoy lights up fans of magnetic field lines in its wake.

2011-12-15T23:36:08 --> 2011-12-16T00:04:56
Comet Lovejoy fragments and evaporates while in AIA's field of view.

2011-12-13T05:10:12 --> 2011-12-13T06:21:00
This minor eruption is seen only in difference imageas. The source region appears to be on the far side. This is the only candidate that can be associated with a minor CME or outflow seen first in LASCO C2 data of 06:48 UT.

2011-12-13T22:30:00 --> 2011-12-14T00:30:00
We learn something about the spatial relation of the erupting prominence (at 304 A) with the flux rope and CME leading edge (at 211 A). Note that the associated CME was very minor. Neither the prominence nor the CME loops is clearly seen at 171 A.

2011-12-13T02:40:12 --> 2011-12-13T04:10:12
This event started with a minor flare at AR 11374 in the southern hemisphere and propagated to and past AR 11375 in the northern hemisphere. No detectable LASCO CME associated with this event. Need to look at STEREO data to find if there was an Earth-directed CME.

2011-12-13T20:00:04 --> 2011-12-15T14:00:04
A very bright funnel in 171 all the way to the edge of the FOV. Projection effect or are these field lines loaded with an unsually large amount of material?

2011-12-12T23:30:00 --> 2011-12-13T02:32:00
The southern part of the eruption consists of a filament with fine structures. In the beginning of the eruption, the filament appears in absorption in all the three wavelengths except for the northern leg. The large-scale loops over the limb had negligible impacts from the eruption.

2011-12-14T01:10:04 --> 2011-12-14T09:40:04
Post-flare loops most easily seen in 211 and 171 (out of the three channels) while in 304 one most see a lot of dynamic surges.

2011-12-14T14:40:04 --> 2011-12-14T16:10:04
Filament eruption off the northeast limb. The lack of footpoint brightening suggests the erupting filament originates from the backside.

2011-12-14T10:25:04 --> 2011-12-14T12:02:34
Unclear whether any filament material manages to lift off into the heliosphere.

2011-12-14T10:25:04 --> 2011-12-14T12:02:34

2011-12-12T16:30:00 --> 2011-12-12T20:32:00
The title describes what we see in the movie. A concave structure (at 171 A) is seen in the upper part of the erupting prominence. Indeed LASCO data show a flux-rope type CME, although the front consists of multiple concentric loops. Not much additional information is available from 211 A images, so they are not included.
